Sliced Artist Conk
Low and behold - the beautiful artist's conk mushroom (Ganoderma applanatum). The Artist Conk has been sought by indigenous healers; a pharmocologically active polypore mushroom that has demonstrated antitumor and immunomodulating activity. In addition, exopolysaccharides derived from Artist Conk have demonstrated certain cytostatic & antibacterial properties. Visit our Science Center to find our directory of research on the Artist's Conk, and follow the links to understand more about what this might mean for your body.
In our opinion, despite having less research than does its sibling, Red Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum), Ganoderma applanatum appears to be more powerful in similar regards, with some extra added aptitude for inducing apoptosis in maligned cells.
Artist Conk can be purchased in slices, or in ground powder. It is most typically used by being brewed into a tea, but could also be used as an additional component of soups, broths, bone broths, tinctures, and various herbal extracts. It is important to mention that artist conk should not be eaten or consumed in its original state, as like many other polypore mushrooms, it would be harsh on your digestive track.
